Melinda and Michaels story started in the digital realm, bridging D.C. and NYC. Their first date in December 2022 at Dutch Freds in Hells Kitchen was a hit, mainly because she chatted about growing up on a hobby farm and his love of sheep and llamas.

After the date, Michaels texting game was on point - just enough to keep Melinda interested without coming off as desperate. Impressed by this rare display of social competence from the world of online dating, Melinda decided Michael was worth keeping around. Meanwhile, Michael, captivated by her chef skills fresh out of culinary school, was eager to learn more about her.


Five months later, Michael ditched D.C. for NYC. Four months later, they moved in together on the Upper West Side. Their relationship was built on shared passions: cooking, going for drives Upstate, camping, after-dinner walks in the city, fishing, and debates about almost any topic, including who is more athletic. For the record, it is Melinda. ;) Michael started the next chapter of their story by proposing on Christmas morning, 2024.
